This is a Championships competition for owners who want to play Canine Disc with their dog.
This event has been sanctioned by the Australian Canine Disc Association (ACDA). All competition rounds will be considered towards ACDA Titles and Awards.
World class disc dog handlers will also be available to offer advice and help you improve. So get your dog, jump in the car, and come join the fun.
Freestyle competitors will be trying to qualify for the World Dog Games at this event.
The Australian World Cup K9 Disc Classic is the only Australian event to be included in the Unified FrisbeeDog Organization (UFO) World Cup Series. All teams participating in the Open and Pro Divisions will earn points in the 2007 UFO World Cup Series. The positions of all dog/thrower teams in the World Cup Standings are determined separately. Therefore, people who compete with more than one dog are scored separately with each dog, and the same rule applies to dogs which compete with more than one thrower.
The UFO World Cup Series includes events in the USA, Germany, Holland, Japan and Australia. BARK thanks the UFO Board of Representatives for their enthusiastic support of Canine Disc in Australia. For more information on the UFO and the World Cup Series visit the UFO website.

Commemorative UFO Medallions (Gold, Silver and Bronze) will be awarded to the top three placings in all divisions. Each division winner will also receive a commemorative UFO t-shirt and product from The Puppy Patisserie, our event sponsors. Special awards will also be presented to the day's highest scoring Junior (14 years and under as at January 1 of this year) and the best Rookie Freestyle round of the day.
The event will include 5 competition divisions:
Teams can elect to compete in any one, two or all of the following competition options:
The following eligibility rules apply to all ACDA sanctioned competitions.
Within the first rounds of each of the Bonus Chase divisions the teams competing in Freestyle will be first in the starting order. In the final round of all Bonus Chase divisions the teams competing in Freestyle will be last in the starting order in the same sequenced order that they competed in the first round. All other Bonus Chase teams compete in the same sequenced order in the first and final rounds.
All Freestyle teams must also compete in one of the Bonus Chase divisions but they have the option of withdrawing from the final Bonus Chase Round without prejudicing their Freestyle placing. Within both Freestyle rounds the teams will be sequenced in the following order: Juniors Teams then Novice teams then Open teams. The event organisers have absolute discretion to re-organise the starting positions of handlers competing in Freestyle with multiple dogs.
Teams competing in the Junior, Novice and Open Divisions will have the total of their two rounds added to determine their placings.
This will be the first competition featuring Bonus Chase in Australia. It is almost identical to Toss & Fetch except that in Bonus Chase, to score 4 or 4.5 points the dog must catch the disc in a bonus zone. This bonus zone is placed in the middle of the field starting at the 30m line and having a diameter of 10m.

Bonus Chase is judged using the ACDA Bonus Chase Judging Criteria. A round score of 7.0 and 13.50 will earn the team an FDA qualifying card, a round score between 14.0 and 20.5 earns the team an FDE qualifying card and a round score between 21.0 and 42.5 earns the team an FDM qualifying card. A team required three (3) qualifying cards to gain that title.
At this competition, teams competing in the Pro and Super-Pro Divisions will have the total of their two freestyle rounds multiplied by 1.5. This multiplied total will then be added to their first round Bonus Chase score to determine their placings. Scores in the final rounds of Bonus Chase do not contribute to the scores for the Pro and Super-Pro Freestyle Divisions.
Freestyle is judged using the ACDA Freestyle Judging Criteria.
The game for this competition will be the Long Distance Game.
Note: that the disc used by all competitors must be a standard premium weight Fastback frisbee.
Each team gets a maximum of two throws to release during the 60 seconds. Time commences at the release of the first throw. Any throw that leave the handler's hand before time expires may count towards the team's total score although the actual catch may not be executed until after time has expired. If a dog makes a catch in mid-air with all four paws off the ground then the throw is scored from the landing position of the trailing paw.
There will two throwing lines opposite each other enabling each team to choose the end from which they throw. A handler must make both of their throws from the same end. Each throw made by the handler must be released from behind the throwing line. If, at any time during the motion of throwing before the throw has left the handler's hand, any portion of either of the handler's feet are over, on, or touching the throwing line that throw will be signalled as a foot fault by the Line Judge, and the throw will be wasted. Additionally, for a throw to count, the dog must be completely behind the throwing line at the moment the disc is released.
The scoring judge will run onto the field to mark the exact position of each team's longest throw, which shall be measured after the conclusion of a team's turn. The longest catch is measured from the throwing line to the position of the dog's trailing paw using a line of measure perpendicular (90 degrees) to the throwing line. Only throws where the trailing paw of the dog is perpendicular to a position along a 25 metre throwing line will count, otherwise the throw will be ruled as "Out Of Bounds" and will be wasted.
The event is judged purely on the distance thrown with the team that makes the longest single catch becoming the winner.
In the Long Distance Game, a handler may utilise the services of another person to hold their dog in a ready position for either or both of their throws while the handler commences to release their throw.
The qualifying score in the Long Distance Game varies depending upon whether the handler is male or female. A male handler needs to make a catch beyond 40 metres in order to earn a Qualifying Certificate towards the Frisbee Dog Games (FDG) Award. A female handler needs to make a catch beyond 35 metres.
