This is a Championships competition for owners who want to play Canine Disc with their dog.

This event has been sanctioned by the Australian Canine Disc Association (ACDA). All competition rounds will be considered towards ACDA Titles and Awards.

World class disc dog handlers will also be available to offer advice and help you improve. So get your dog, jump in the car, and come join the fun.

Spectator Information

Spectators are warmly welcomed to watch, entry is free.

During the event you will see a variety of dogs of different sizes and speeds running out to catch discs and then returning them to their handler. Spectators are encouraged to cheer loudly when the dogs make catches. It is a lot of fun to watch these amazing canine athletes as they chase down the discs and catch the disc with their mouth. Whilst this is a fun sport for spectators to watch, no-one has more fun than the dogs.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to the the top three placings in all divisions.

Competition Divisions

The event will include 3 competition divisions:

Competition Options

Teams can elect to compete in either one or both of the following competition options:

Division Eligibility

The following eligibility rules apply to all ACDA sanctioned competitions.

Juniors
All handlers who have not yet turned 15 years old as at 1 January in the same year of the competition are eligible to compete in Juniors.
Novice
All handlers who do not qualify for either Juniors or Open division, compete in Novice.
Open
Handlers who have won any two Throw & Catch (Toss & Fetch or Bonus Chase) competitions with 5 or more competitors must compete in the Open Division. Additionally, securing a place as a National Championships Finalist in Throw & Catch is equivalent to winning an eligible competition. These rules apply to the handler not the dog, so once a handler satisfies this criterion they must continue to always compete in Open even though they might start competing with an inexperienced dog or puppy.

Scoring

Toss & Fetch

Teams competing in the Junior, Novice and Open Divisions will have the total of their two rounds added to determine their placings.

Toss & Fetch is judged using the ACDA Throw & Catch Judging Criteria. A round score of 7.0 and 13.50 will earn the team an FDA qualifying card, a round score between 14.0 and 20.5 earns the team an FDE qualifying card and a round score between 21.0 and 22.5 earns the team an FDM qualifying card. A team required three (3) qualifying cards to gain that title.

Game

The game for this competition will be the Accuracy Game.

In the Accuracy Game, there are three circle zones centred 10 metres, 15 metres and 25 metres away from the throwing line. Teams score 1 point each time the dog makes a catch with at least one paw on or inside the line of the marked circle zone the centre of which is located 10 metres from the throwing line (4 metre circle diameter). Teams score 3 points each time the dog makes a catch with at least one paw on or inside the line of the marked circle zone, the centre of which is located 15 metres from the throwing line (5 metre circle diameter). Teams score 5 points each time the dog makes a catch with at least one paw on or inside the line of a marked circle zone, the centre of which is located 25 metres from the throwing line (7 metre circle diameter).

The circle zones will not be in a straight line. The precise position of the circles will be revealed on the competition day. A team's first throw can only score in the 10 metre scoring zone (1 point). A team's second throw can only score in the 15 metre scoring zone (3 points). A team's third throw can only score in the 25 metre scoring zone (5 points). Subsequent throws can score in any of the three scoring zones.

The time limit for this fun event is 60 seconds, in which teams can make as many throws and scoring catches as they like. The qualifying score in the Accuracy Game for earning a leg towards the Frisbee Dog Games (FDG) Award is a minimum of 9 points.
