BARK Details

BARK is the Brisbane and Region K9 Disc Club, Australia's first club for canine disc dogs and their handlers.

Established in January 2003, BARK is dedicated to providing "Frisbee Fun for ALL the Family" by organising Canine Disc Dog Championships, Training Clinics, and other fun events.

Anyone is welcome to participate in BARK activities, but there is a membership option which provides special benefits for people who want to play canine disc with their dog on a regular basis.

Canine Disc (also known as Canine Frisbee) is a very popular sport overseas, especially in the US where there have been organised competitions for more than 25 years. The sport is also booming in Japan where there are now more than 3,000 competing teams. More recently, canine disc has become a popular recreation in the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, and other countries especially throughout Europe and Central and Latin America.

The establishment of BARK has also been accompanied by the formation of the Australian Canine Disc Association (ACDA). ACDA is the sanctioning body for the sport in Australia and is providing a cohesive framework for the national development of the sport.

BARK's Objectives

BARK is committed to providing fun events and helping build stronger and better relationships with our dogs and family members.

In addition to helping owners enjoy playing canine disc with their dogs, BARK is committed to promoting responsible pet ownership. In addition to providing education about responsible pet ownership at club events, BARK will be developing mutually beneficial opportunities with humane societies, rescue groups and animal charities to help them with their valuable work.

BARK's History

BARK was founded in January 2003 by Australians Karen and Damian Noud. After traveling to the US with their Border Collies Topaz and Kristal to pursue work and study opportunities the Nouds discovered the Greater Atlanta Dog & Disc Club. The Nouds got hooked on the big-time fun of the US Canine Frisbee circuit and started participating in training clinics, traveling to interstate competitions, making friends and having fun working with their dogs learning new throws and tricks. After three years and several tournament victories the Nouds returned to Australia and the first thing they did was establish BARK in the hope that other Australians will enjoy Canine Disc as much as they do.

BARK is an unincorporated association established in Queensland. All club members are invited to participate in the management of the club and help determine the club's future directions.
